Wright State Campus is hosting a series of events for Romance Responsibility this week.

Nationwide, Romance Responsibility week is more commonly known as Sexual Responsibility week. WSU's Student Support Services is enacting the activities during the week. The events deal with taking control over personal choices, like drinking and safe sex.

Larissa Wright, a graduate assistant at Student Support Services, explained, "Our office programs for theme weeks like Alcohol Awareness and Sexual Assault."

A "Love Shouldn't Hurt" panel is taking place at noon in the Millet Hall Lobby. A group panel from various legal, defense and counseling groups will be present.

There will be a presentation titled "Lets Talk About Sex: What's Hot, What's Not" on Thursday, Feb. 15. This presentation will take place at the Multicultural Room in Millet Hall at 2:15 p.m. It is part of the Healthy Women Series with acclaimed speaker Richelle Frabotta.

"I will probably be attending her presentation because there is so much hype about getting her (to campus) again," said Darin Dillinger, a senior mass communications major who is helping with Romance Responsibility week.

Another event on Thursday will be a Self Defense Class for women only. It will be held at 6 p.m. in the Honors Hall Plaza Lounge.

Students on campus are positive about the responsibility strengthening activities of Romance Responsibility week.
Brian Maley, a second year business major, said, "People should have responsibility for their actions."

The Bacchus & Gamma network encourages and develops other information weeks for college campus in addition to Sexual Responsibility week.

"I think calling it Romance Responsibility week maligns the term 'romance,' but the events seem worthwhile," said Aaron Smith, a Mass Communication Senior.

Before the end of the quarter will be a similar week long event to promote personal safety and responsibility.

"Coming up is Safe Spring Break where we'll also do some more information tables. We're still in our planning stages for that," said Larisa Wright.

The events will be "along the same lines of being responsible in drinking and in your relationships," added Wright.
