TIP #1: ON A BUDGET
Issue date: 1/24/07 Section: Weddings
Make a budget and stick to it:
If you need a tool to help, most of the larger wedding Web sites offer online budget planners.
Do it yourself, or delegate to a friend:
For instance, you can buy your own liquor or save delivery charges by sending a friend to pick up the cake and flowers.
Prioritize your spending:
You'll hear all about what you "must have" but it's perfectly fine to spend more on what's important to you and to skip such extras as programs, limos and favors.
Save on stamps:
Leave out the extra envelopes and bulky invitation inserts. Use postcards for RSVPs.
Stay objective:
When you start to go over budget, remain levelheaded and figure out alternative ways to complete the task at hand.
