Despite the two Horizon League games, Wright State was tied for fifth in the league standings with the two other Ohio teams, Cleveland State and the Penguins. Detroit had the Horizon League basement all by them self, with that ugly stain of a 1-3. An upside for the Titans is the Raiders lost in Calihan Hall and at home to the Titans last year. But stats don't matter when the game bell rings.
It was time to get to work in Calihan Hall.
The first basket came from the Raider's Danyelle Duncan only to be followed by three straight jumpers from the Titans to give Detroit an early 6-2 lead. It would look like the end for the Raiders, until a breakthrough. Brittney Whiteside made one of her two foul shots, and the rhythm change for the Wright State.
After a three-pointer and lay-up, the Raiders led 8-6 and the game started to look much different for the Lady Raiders than the previous two games.
After tying and leading again, Detroit seemed to have this game. But the Lady Raiders sunk a few shots in and made sure those pesky Titans wouldn't bother Wright State's lead anymore.
At halftime, the score was 33-26, Wright State.
The second half began underway, and the Gold and Green made sure this away game was theirs. No Titan could stop the Raiders' rush of 34 points in the second half.
The Raiders left the Calihan Hall, winning 67-51 over the Lady Titans. While committing 22 turnovers, the Raiders forced the Titans to turnover the ball 30 times. Leading the way for the Raiders was Brittney Whiteside, with 16.
The Lady Raiders return home to face both teams from Wisconsin; UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay. The Milwaukee Panthers will have their shot on the Raiders Jan. 25 at 7 p.m., while the Green Bay Phoenixes get a game with them Jan. 27 at 1.
Both games will take place in the Nutter Center. They might not be a powerhouse like last year's team, but the Lady Panthers are still tough. The Phoenixes are a major powerhouse this year, having only lost four games this season.
