During winter break, most people would probably like to be skiing or on a beach somewhere, but for many of us, winter break means staying in Dayton to work a seasonal job or taking extra classes over intersession. Though Dayton isn't exactly a vacation hot spot, there are a lot of things to do this holiday season.
Members of the WSU chapter of the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) finished in the top five of their region at the 33rd ACM International Programming Contest. The competition was sponsored by IBM and was held at the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov.
It's no secret that most students are on the edge of their seats waiting for their finals to come and go. It's also fair to assume that aside from working their winter break jobs, most students look forward to having little to worry about during their time off - that is, except being broke from holiday shopping.
The passage of Proposition 8 in California was a pretty disgraceful show of ignorance. Just when we thought that this election was a sign of the cleansing of much of that ignorance. But, to be fair, the "YES" folks did run a much better campaign than the "NO" folks.
Their uniforms may have been new but the women's basketball team looked as experienced as ever in their 65-43 win at the Nutter Center Wednesday night. Just as the men's squad impressed fans in their lone preseason game on Monday, coach Bridgett Williams' group fired on almost all cylinders, controlling the action from tip-off to the final buzzer.
